The first blog post - WTF is this Midlife Revolution?

Jun 25, 2020

Welcome to Midlife Revolution newsletter One!

โ€‹I'm Lee and thanks for subscribing to my list, all 434 of you, especially when I hadn't even really worked out what #MidlifeRevolution is going to be. Truth be told it's a bit of a lockdown idea that swept me off my feet and then left me sitting wondering what had happened. Some of you have even emailed me to ask 'what is this thing going to be Lee? I NEED something positive and inspiring for midlife women right now!' Here's the best answer I can come up with at the moment.

โ€‹I'm 48 and I am watching 50 coming at me with excitement and anticipation! I see this period of my life, midlife, as a truly fertile, no nonsense time and can't wait to see what I create. I am so not interested in the doom and gloom I see in the media about how women are over the hill by midlife. I'm not having it and I want to work with and chat with women who are not having it either. I'm going to do this through this newsletter, which I plan to make a short, probably irregular roundup of inspiring stories and role models of women in their forties to sixties and beyond, bucking the trend of how bad midlife is supposed to be and creating amazing things with this energy we have for not really caring what others think anymore.

โ€‹I will also work with women individually through my one-to-one midlife coaching, in groups through coaching circles and eventually I will tip the knowledge I have learned along the way about how to start things (projects and businesses) and keep going no matter what, into online courses. These are the sorts of topics I will focus on, in coaching and in these newsletters.

I don't know about you but I find the creative process not particulary linear so I expect all sorts of things to change over time. That's fine and it's fine for you to change your mind about who you are and what you want to do too. It will all emerge in the fullness of time. Let's allow ourselves the space for it to do so in a way that doesn't stress us out.

  • What do you hope for your midlife?
  • What secret mission are you working on?
  • Do you want to start a new project, a business, a community?
  • What dream do you dare to have for your next phase?

Hit REPLY and tell me. I'd love to know.

โ€‹This is long enough now but I will leave you with this role model. She started her business at age 90. Not midlife by any stretch of the imagination but she might provide some 'if she can, I can too' motivation.

Do please pass this on to any women you think might want to join a conversation about making midlife the best time of our lives.

โ€‹More soon,

Lee x
